    A Student of Visual Communication Design Dept. at AU Wins a Great Japanese Illustration Competition

    A graduate student of the Visual Communication Dept. (VCD) at Asia University (AU), Jing-Wei Liu, wins the first-place award of 2015 JIA (Japanese Illustrators’ Association) Illustration Competition and is granted a bonus of JPY 300 thousand dollars. This competition is the most authoritative in the Japan illustration art circle. According to the JIA report, this is the first time a participant of the contest from Taiwan wins such an award.       Multimedia “big data”, covering from everyone’s experiences to everything happening in the world, have become an important and valuable source for insights and information. The IEEE International Conference on Multimedia Big Data (BigMM), jointly sponsored by IEEE-TCMC (Technical Committee on Multimedia Computing) and IEEE-TCSEM (Technical Committee on Semantic Computing), aims to establish a community of researchers from academia and industry focusing on the synergetic interactions between multimedia content and big data analytics. The second BigMM conference will be hosted by Asia University in Taipei, Taiwan from April 20 to 22 in 2016.

    The Department of Interior Design at Asia University (AU) cooperates with the international space design organization “Idea-Tops” recently, and holds together the Taiwan-area Contest in Asia Museum of Modern Art at AU, which was opened on June 8 by AU former Vice President Yu-Dong Liu, Idea-Tops Committee Chairman Qing-Xiang Zhao, President of Taiwan Association of Interior Designers Ming-Chuan Wang, and Honorary President of Kaohsiung Association of Interior Designers and Art Chuan-Jie Zeng.     Asia University – The Youngest Top 100 University in Asia

    UK Time Higher Education (THE) reported the 2015 ranking result of top-100 Asia universities on June 11. A total of 11 schools in Taiwan are within the top 100, and Asia University (AU) is in the list for the second year in an arrow. Being just 14 years old, AU is the youngest top-100 university of all over Asia! Only two private schools in Taiwan get into the list, namely, China Medical University (CMU) and AU.     The famous painting “Monsieur et Madame Édouard Manet” and nineteen engravings created for the famous French writer Maupassant’s short-story work “La Maison Tellier,” all by the renowned French Impressionist Edgar Degas and borrowed from the Kitakyushu Museum of Art in Japan, were opened today in Asia Museum of Modern Art at Asia University (AU) for exhibition.
