Asia University collaborates with three universities in India to sign MOU, nurturing international semiconductor talent

picture 3Asia University has been invited to participate in the "Taiwan-India Semiconductor Talent Cultivation Exchange Program" organized by the Ministry of Education on the 13th of September. Under the witness of the Deputy Minister of Education Mon-Chi Lio and Professor Tarak, Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education, Shian-Shyong Tseng, the Vice President and Dean of the College of Information and Electrical Engineering, signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of Asia University with the university heads of three Indian universities: SASTRA Deemed University, Medi-Caps University, and IES University, Bhopal. These universities will send students to Asia University for internships, and Asia University will assist in nurturing semiconductor experts in India, thereby promoting the development of semiconductor manufacturing technology in the country.
Vice President Shian-Shyong Tseng stated that Asia University has designated 2023 as the "Year of India" and is encouraging more Indian students to pursue dual master's and doctoral degrees at Asia University. To facilitate this, a delegation of deans from Asia University visited five universities in India during the summer vacation, and this initiative received a warm welcome from students and faculty. It has led to the formal signing of the memorandum of understanding on semiconductor talent cultivation with the aforementioned Indian universities.

The Ministry of Education organpicture 4ized this gathering to promote cross-border exchange and cooperation in semiconductor technology between Taiwan and India. Representatives from more than ten Taiwanese universities, including National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, National Taipei University of Technology, and Asia University, engaged in discussions with representatives from numerous Indian universities.

During the seminar, Professor Ruei-Sung Yu from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering of Asia University presented an overview of the learning and internship experiences of students from SASTRA Deemed University at Asia University over the past year.

Furthermore, an Indian student from SASTRA Deemed University who studies at Asia University, Mohanapriya Babu Swaminathan, shared her educational experiences and insights on the internship at Everlight Electronics. She mentioned that studying at Asia University not only provided her with new knowledge and skills but also enhanced her interpersonal and problem-solving abilities. More importantly, she noted a transformation in her values and perspectives.

Professor Wen-Thong Chang, Vice Dean of the College of Information and Electrical Engineering of Asia University, highlighted Asia University's outstanding performance in international rankings in recent years, which has attracted the attention of many foreign universities. Several Indian universities have expressed their interest in sending students to Asia University to learn about semiconductor knowledge and technology, with the aim of nurturing semiconductor experts who will contribute to the development of semiconductor manufacturing technology in India.
