AU’s virtual exchange programs have attracted 1152 international students from 31 universities this year. The global rampage of COVID-19 has changed the face of international higher education. With the close of most national borders, the exchange programs between universities are suspended and the date of reopening seems uncertain at this moment.
AU has approximately 400 sister universities around the world and exchange students take up a large proportion of the international students. To encourage exchange students to study at AU despite the pandemic, the International College manages to offer 30 courses for the spring semester, 2021. The courses include Psychology, Bioinformatics and Medical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting and Information Systems, Leisure and Recreation Management, Finance, Financial and Economic Law,
Social Work, Foreign Languages and Literature, Digital Media Design, Visual Communication Design, and Chinese Language. All courses are taught online synchronously (unless otherwise specified) and in English (except the Chinese language courses).
Students interested in the virtual exchange need to register at their home university and at Asia University, and are allowed to take from 1 to 3 courses listed in the brochure as available for virtual exchange. Partner universities need to nominate students for this virtual exchange to AU at least 3 weeks before the Spring semester begins (that is, before Feb. 1st) so that we can help register the exchange students in the AU system, thereby enabling them to take courses online.
Over one thousand Students from AU’s sister universities such as India’s Madanapalle Institute of Technology & Science, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Indonesia’s Jakarta State University, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Esa Unggul, The Philippines’ Far East University and Mariano Marcos State University, Thailand’s Chiang Mai University and Maejo University, and Japan’s Kansai University of International Studies will take on-line courses and become AU’s virtual exchange students in the coming spring semester.
