The UK Times Higher Education (THE) Report announces the 2019 Best Asia University Ranking result, and Asia University is in the list, and is the 17th and the best non-medical university, in Taiwan.
Recently, the UK Times Higher Education (THE) Report announces the result of 2019 Asia University Rankings. A total of 32 universities in Taiwan enter the list of the best universities. Specifically, both Asia University (AU) and the China Medical University (CMU) forming the “China Asia Associated University (CA2)” enter the list. The CMU is ranked as No. 3, and AU as No. 17, in Taiwan, respectively. AU President, Jeffrey J. P. Tsai, says that in the duration of recent 5 years, AU has been elected into the lists of four international academic rankings announced by the THE Report. As a young university which has been founded only 18 years, AU is making a great history!
According to the THE Report, CMU is ranked to be the 60th best in Asia, and the 3rd in Taiwan which is only next to National Taiwan University and National Tsing Hua University; nevertheless, the school is ranked as the top of all private universities in Taiwan. In the meantime, AU is ranked to be the 215th in the Asia region, the 17th and 5th best of all and private universities in Taiwan, respectively. The THE ranking result also reveals that AU is the top of all non-medical universities in Taiwan.
President Tsai points out that AU has awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree in Managements to the Honorary President of Nanyang Technological University, Dr. Bertil Andersson, in last year. During the awarding ceremony, Dr. Andersson said, “when you teach in a historic university, you will hear its history; however; when you teach in a young university, you can make the history!” President Tsai quotes this sentence from Dr. Andersson to encourage all the faculty members. “AU, which has been found for only 18 years, is affirmed by the THE Report again,” said President Tsai. He believes that the AU family is creating a great history!
Besides, as President Tsai emphasizes, the CMU and AU cooperate intensively in the “CA2” system. In recent years, the common Chairman of the Boards of Directors of the two schools in the “CA2”, Prof. Chang-Hai Tsai, keeps demanding the two schools to achieve better results in several world-famous academic rankings. He claims that the objectives and quantitative standards of these academic rankings can examine the performance of school running. The outstanding rankings of the two schools demonstrate that the quality education of the “CA2” is fully recognized by both domestic and foreign academic circles. Furthermore, he puts a long-term aim for the two universities ¾ showing lasting strengths on the global academic stage!
President Tsai also mentions that in the recent five years from 2014, AU has been evaluated as one of the top-100 universities in 16 different rankings announced by the THE Report. In fact, AU also has been ranked as a top-100 university in several other famous world university rankings, including the UK QS Global University Rankings, the Global University Ranking of the US News and World Report Magazine, and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) formerly conducted by the Shanghai Jiao Tung University. These results showing that AU is gradually becoming a top university in the world. President Tsai says also that the international affirmations can be seen as the achievements of all the university faculty members; and expects that AU can achieve better ranking results in the near future!
