AU Is Ranked to Be the Top-1 in Taiwan in the Millennial University Rankings by 2019 THE Report!

TheTHE Report recently announces the 2019 Millennial University Ranking and the 2019 Young University Ranking, and AU is ranked to be the top 1 and top 4 best in Taiwan on the two lists, respectively! The UK Times Higher Education (THE) Report announces the Millennial University Ranking of 2019 on June 27. This ranking is known as the most famous indicator assessment of those universities that were founded at the beginning of the 21st century. Overall, a totally of 64 universities from 29 countries are included in the list, and Asia University (AU) is ranked to be the 44th in the world. In particular, the list says that AU is the top 1 best in Taiwan, and is the only private university in the nation that enters the ranking list. In the meantime, the THE Report reveals the 2019 Young University Ranking, which lists the best universities in the world that are fifty years old or younger. A number of 351 universities around the world are elected into the ranking list. 13 universities in Taiwan enter the list, among which AU is ranked in the group of 201th-250th in the world. This result says that AU is the top 4 best in Taiwan and the top 1 best non-medical university! The Vice Dean of Research and Development of AU, Prof. Mei-Chin Yin, expresses that the THE Report assessed young universities which were founded less than fifty years ago, and ranked totally 351 such universities in the list. Meanwhile, the organization also evaluates the Millennial Universities based on 13 performances indicators which include teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income. Among the eligible universities around the world, 64 universities from 29 countries were selected. In Taiwan, 43 universities were founded after the 21st century; however, only AU and National University of Kaohsiung are selected to enter the THE list of the Millennial University Ranking of 2019. And the most commendable thing regarding the ranking result is that AU is the top 1 best in Taiwan. In the duration of the recent five years since 2014, AU has been evaluated as one of the top-100 universities in eighteen rankings announced by the THE Report. Additionally, AU also enters a number of other world-famous rankings which include the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), the UK QS Global University Rankings, and the Global University of the US News and World Report Magazine. In this year, AU has been ranked by the THE to be the 215th in the list of 2019 Best Asia University Ranking, which says also that AU is respectively the 17th and 5th best of all and private universities in Taiwan. Furthermore, the THE Report also affirms that AU is one of the impact universities in the world. In the University Impact Ranking announced by the THE, AU has been ranked to be the 107th in the world and the 4th in Taiwan. “AU, as a young university which has been founded only eighteen years, has been affirmed as an outstanding university in school running by many international organizations. The key is to enhance internationalization and promote the international mobility of teachers and students,” said AU President, Jeffrey J. P. Tsai. There are 650 international students from 25 countries studying in AU currently. In fact, in every year, AU provides plenty of chances to students, such as offering international internships and exchange courses, subsidies for participating international competitions or international conferences, etc., for the students to wide their international views. And each year about 1000 students of AU go abroad through these opportunities. In the recent period, AU also puts lots of efforts on the development of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) field to face the AI Era, aiming at cultivating more young AI talents which are in demand globally. Among these efforts, it is worth to mention that AU has established an AI college, and cooperated with Microsoft and Taiwan AI Academy. Furthermore, in the campus AU has established the first AI library in Taiwan and set up an AI experience room. President Tsai emphasizes that to follow the industry trends, AU has established many related research centers, with tops including (1) big data, (2) fin-tech and block-chain technology, (3) AI, (4) 3D printing, (5) food safety, (6) precision medical, (7) prevention and treatment of internet addiction, (8) eye, and (9) innovation and circular economy. He mentioned also that to raise the international academic quality and expand global visibility, AU has devoted to collaborate with a number of world-famous universities including the Stanford University, the University of Missouri, the Kyoto University, the Osaka University, the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University, and the University of Hong Kong, etc. He expects that AU can move farther and get a better global performance in the near future!
