Asia University (AU) alumni and Chinatrust Brothers baseball team manager Cheng-Min Peng initiated the "Asia University Martian Chia Chia Movement," a public welfare platform at AU. The Department of Business Administration, along with its alumni, raised 500,000 NTD and entrusted it to Cheng-Min Peng to underwrite the donation of sports equipment to underprivileged school baseball teams in the rural areas, as well as organizing training camps and other activities. They also extended their best wishes to Chia Chia, the newly appointed head coach, on behalf of the alumni.
Professor Jeffrey J.P. Tsai, President of Asia University, expressed his appreciation for the kindness and generosity of Manager Peng and the alumni of the Department of Business Administration. Their compassion is truly commendable. The initial sum of 500,000 NTD was raised through the joint efforts of alumnus, Han-Sheng Hsu, the Taichung City Changhua townsmen association and its members with a significant contribution of 360,000 NTD, and the remaining 140,000 NTD was donated by Professor Shu-Hui Chuang, the Department Chair of business administration, other master’s students and PhD students.
Manager Chia Chia stated that he and his friend founded the "Taiwan Martian Movement Development Association" seven years ago. They have been organizing baseball training camps across various locations in Taiwan each year. They have conducted 10 fundraising campaigns and donated sports equipment to underprivileged school baseball teams to promote sports development. Additionally, they established the "Martian Chia Chia Movement" at their alma mater, which they find highly meaningful, as it enables further promotion and expansion of their initiatives.
President Tsai expressed his gratitude to Chairman Hsu, faculty members, students, and alumni for their participation in this activity, which assists underprivileged children for sports. Through this initiative, they aim to cultivate a new generation of athletes.
