Asia University (AU) ranked 11th in Taiwan in the "2023 University Governance and Performance" and has been on the list for nine consecutive years. AU was also listed within the top 351 to 400 on the "2023 World University Rankings," released by "Times Higher Education UK," and ranked fourth in Taiwan. Jane Liu, the General Manager of Common Wealth Magazine Group—one of the prestigious popular magazines in Taiwan, stated in the award ceremony that this is an outstanding achievement for AU, as the evaluation standards have become more strict and more demanding than before.
Chia Lun Huang, Director of Common Wealth Magazine Group Transformation and Learning, pointed out that Taiwan is now facing a talent shortage after the epidemic. However, many international companies are still coming to Taiwan to recruit potential talents. As universities are the talent cultivation institutes, it is important and crucial for them to follow the international standards to nurture their students for the job market. As also noted by Cheers magazine in Taiwan, this year's top schools are those who place emphasis on teaching innovation, internationalization, and the industry-university collaboration. Over the past decade AU has placed great emphasis on teaching and research innovation, and it has established research centers in the areas of artificial intelligence, financial technology, big data and blockchain, 3D printing medical research and development, and semiconductors, as an efficient response to this global trend. President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai of Asia University announced the establishment of three metaverse teaching and research bases to facilitate the teaching and implementation of ChatGPT on campus. In response to the ChatGPT development, AU just held the first international ChatGPT forum in Taiwan in March this year. Through lectures, workshops, and seminars, AU teachers and students can experience and familiarize themselves with this new technology and apply it in their teaching, learning, research, and industrial cooperation.
