Job Fair on AU Campus

AU held a Campus Recruitment Fair offering 3000 job opportunities in 72 companies on May 11. Professor Huei-Chen Ko, Vice President of Asia University, said that many companies and industries came to recruit new employees on our campus since AU has won global reputation for its excellent research and quality education in recent years. In her opening remarks, she expressed her appreciation to these companies for their participation and support, and she also encouraged AU students to seize this opportunity to find their ideal jobs.

In this job fair, 72 famous companies, including medical care institutions; long-term care facilities; hotels and food services; education; and traditional industries and electronic commerce, set up their booths to attract students and to provide necessary information regarding employment. Some well-known hospitals including China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital; Show Chwan Memorial Hospital; Cathay General Hospital; and Changhua Christian Hospital, also joined this recruitment fair and offered many job opportunities for our students.

Ms. Shu Yuan Lin, Minister of Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch, Ministry of Labor, also attended the fair. “We set up a ’Taiwan Jobs‘ platform and offer resume review and other services for job seekers,” she said. AU students can make good use of this platform which also offers advice on career exploration and employment consultation.

Ms. Mei Li Lee, Director of Taichung City Employment Services Office, mentioned that Taichung City Government offers 35,000 NT dollars to encourage its citizens to work if they stay at one industry or company for more than six months. This incentive will also be of great help to those AU graduates with student loans.

Mr. Hui-Mei Chang, Nursing Supervior of China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital, offered AU’s nursing students a signing bonus to attract them. Ms. Huang, Head Nurse of Cathay General Hospital, came to recruit students again as AU’s nursing graduates perform well in their hospital.

Mr. Fu-Lin Wu, Executive Assistant to Manager of Sinphar Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. showed great interest in fostering collaboration with AU since AU can provide quality students to their advantage. Mr. Tsang-Jiang Huang, the Assistant Manager of the Human Resources of CotaBank, said that they welcome AU students with finance and information background.

Professor Shao-Liang Chang, Dean of Office of Student Affairs, mentioned that AU alumni has earned a good reputation in their job services, especially nursing students working in the hospitals. “I am happy to see around 20 hospital and medical care institutions and medical device companies coming to join this job fair,” he stated.

The Career Center, Office of Student Affairs at AU invites some professional career development administrators to offer resume writing and other career planning advice to help students better prepare themselves for employment. Dean Shao-Liang Chang hopes that through this campus recruitment fair, the university can build up close partnerships with industries and help students find jobs.
