Asia University (AU), Taiwan, was selected as a global partner by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (MoECRT) for its "2022 Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards for Vocational Students" (IISMAVO). 17 Indonesian students from various universities selected AU as their host university. The International College hosted a farewell party for them before they departed for Indonesia at the end of last semester. Because of their excellent academic performance and high seriousness, some Taiwanese companies in Indonesia have already recruited them. Meanwhile, quite a few students also expressed their intention to apply for the master's program at AU and continue their studies. Many students said that they were very delighted and honored to have this opportunity to experience education at AU. They appreciated AU for organizing company tours, practice sessions, internships, and even cultural visits to help them get to know Taiwan more and gain some valuable real-world experiences.

The Indonesian MoECRT launched the IISMAVO program for the first-time in 2022, encouraging Indonesian students to go abroad for exchange, study, and internships and thereby to strengthen their cross-border mobility. Each course of study will span one semester, and the tuition fees, registration fees, living expenses, COVID-19-related testing fess, isolation insurance, and others expenses are fully covered by the Indonesian government scholarship.

Among the 71 ISSMAVO students who came to Taiwan, 17 students chose AU as their host university, and the number is the highest among the 10 universities in Taiwan. These students were enrolled in 6 departments, including departments of Computer Science & Information Engineering, Bioinformatics and Medical Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting & Information, Finance, Foreign Languages & Literature. Each department also arranges local student buddies to assist Indonesian students in daily life and academic study.

Mr. Hanif Ayunda Safitri Haryanto, a third-year student from the Department of Computer Science & Information Engineering at Telkom University Indonesia, observed: “Coming to AU as a semester exchange student helps me understand that the world is bigger than I have imagined.” He promised to share this valuable experience with the Indonesian friends and peers, hoping that they will also be able to study at AU through the IISMAVO program next year.
