Asia University AI Team Visited Silicon Valley in the United States, where President Tsai met with Jensen Huang, Founder of Nvidia

President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai paid a visit to NVIDIA  to engage in in-depth discussions on advancing smart healthcare.

Asia University, Taiwan, pledges to stay abreast of the latest global developments in artificial intelligence. Led by President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai, the Asia University "AI Intelligence and Smart Healthcare" faculty members travelled to Silicon Valley, USA on March 17 to attend the NVIDIA GTC 2024 conference hosted by NVIDIA. They met with NVIDIA founder Jensen Huang and Kimberly Powell, Vice President of Healthcare at NVIDIA, along with Professor Alireza Haghighi from Harvard Medical School, a collaborator with Asia University, for in-depth discussions. The discussions focused on the "Global Genomic Analysis Platform Construction Project," a joint research project between Asia University and Harvard Medical School, with Jensen Huang providing comments and insights for the project's development.


In addition to speeches by NVIDIA founder Jensen Huang, the NVIDIA GTC 2024 conference invited AI experts from various industries and academia to present the latest trends in artificial intelligence development. With over 600 sessions and 200 exhibitions, this internationally renowned conference provided the Asia University team with first-hand experience and insights into the current state of the art in AI worldwide and the future development of next-generation intelligent technologies.

President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai emphasized that genomic big data analysis is a crucial topic in the field of biomedical science today. Through close collaboration between academia, industry, and medicine, new momentum can be injected into global health and well-being. At the conference, the introduction of NVIDIA's "Generative AI Microservices" is expected to propel the healthcare industry toward a new milestone. President Tsai expressed his hope for enhanced innovation in smart healthcare applications through close collaboration with NVIDIA and Harvard University.

President Tsai led the Asia University team, including Prof. Huang Kuan-Tsae, Director of industry-academia collaboration Office Dr. Charles C. N. Wang, Vice Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Engineering Prof. Chang Wen-Thong, Prof.  Chen Hsing-chung, and Associate Professor Chan Wenling, to participate in the NVIDIA GTC 2024 conference. The conference attracted approximately 16,000 people to Silicon Valley, focusing on generative AI. Leading companies such as Open AI, Essential AI, Character.AI, and Inceptive were also prominent participants.

During the conference, NVIDIA founder Jensen Huang announced the new generation GPU Blackwell, which boasts 208 million trillion transistors, delivering performance four times stronger than the previous generation H100 and achieving four times faster training speeds. NVIDIA will provide NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud in the form of application programming interfaces (APIs), extending its coverage from leading the global industrial digital twin application and workflow establishment platform to the entire software manufacturing ecosystem.

NVIDIA also unveiled the latest Isaac Manipulator, featuring a series of motion generation and modular AI capabilities specifically designed for robotic arms, and Isaac Perceptor, a visual AI for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) that enhances efficiency in manufacturing and logistics industries through multi-camera and 360-degree visual capabilities. Additionally, they introduced a new business model, AI Foundry, which will launch dozens of enterprise-grade generative AI microservices, including AI model technology (NIM), adjustment tools (NeMo microservices), and infrastructure for fine-tuning and deploying models (DGX Cloud). The significant innovations and commercial applications of generative AI became the focal points of the conference, showcasing NVIDIA's determination to lead the AI wave.

Kimberly Powell, Vice President of Healthcare at NVIDIA, was invited to share NVIDIA's latest "generative AI microservices" in advancing drug discoveries, medical technology, and digital health at the NVIDIA GTC 2024 conference. The new catalogue of NVIDIA NIM and GPU-accelerated microservices for biological, chemical, imaging, and healthcare data is now available for operation in the NVIDIA DGX Cloud. Powell introduced more than 20 new generative AI microservices at the conference, enabling healthcare enterprises worldwide to benefit from the latest breakthroughs in generative AI regardless of their location or cloud usage. These include the "NVIDIA NIM Healthcare Microservice" for inference, "Hippocratic AI Generative Artificial Intelligence" that changes the interaction mode between healthcare professionals and patients, "MolMIM" for generating chemical molecules, "ESMFold" for predicting protein structure, and "DiffDock" for simulating interactions between drug molecules and targets.
