In the 2020 THE ranking report of the best young universities in the world, AU was listed top 150-200, No. 3 in Taiwan, and No. 1 of all private universities in Taiwan.
The UK Times Higher Education (THE) published the “2020 Best Young Universities in the World” on June 24, and 16 Taiwan universities entered this ranking list. Asia University (AU) was ranked top 150-200, No. 3 in Taiwan, and No. 1 of all private universities in Taiwan.
The UK THE ranked the world’s best universities that are under 50 years and published the result the other day. In total 414 universities from 66 countries and regions in the world were listed and AU was ranked top 150-200 university.
When Prof. Chang-Hai Tsai and Mr. Tseng-lien Lin founded the Taichung Healthcare and Management College in 2001, they decided to establish a distinguished university for the 21st century in Taiwan . Due to their efforts and dedication, Taichung Healthcare and Management was renamed Asia University in 2015. Founder Tsai of the school said that Asia University is expected to become an internationally competitive university and a world-famous comprehensive university that is able to think globally and act locally.
Prof. Jeffrey J. P. Tsai, President of AU, said that AU has been granted “Awards of Teaching Excellence” by the Ministry of Education (MOE) since 2006 for 14 consecutive years. It has also been credited as one of the top universities in Taiwan every year by Global Views Monthly magazine and Cheers magazine. And this year’s student recruitment rate, 99.17%, is also remarkably high among 36 private universities in Taiwan.
Prof. Ta-Cheng Chen, Vice President of Academic Affairs at AU, said that amount of exchange students this year reaches 1056, ranked No. 1 in Taiwan. Each year, the university subsidizes nearly 1,000 teachers and students to go abroad for studying as exchange students, doing internships, working as international volunteers, taking part in competitions, etc. This year, AU received a subsidy of more than NT$ 26 million dollars from the MOE and will send more than 400 students overseas . There will also be more students from the Southeast Asian nations to come to study at AU. In addition, AU received 114 research projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), ranked the fifth among all Taiwan universities and the third in private universities, showing remarkable academic performances.
