Admission Q & A Q. What documents should I prepare for the application? A. The required materials for admission application are as follows: l Two application forms for admission with a 2-inch photo taken in the last three months must be attached to each of the forms. l One copy of the highest-level diploma (enclosed with either a Chinese or an English translation of the diploma). Applicants who have received admission should submit one copy of their diploma and transcript verified (with official stamp/seal) by Taiwan ROC embassy, consulate office, or Taipei Economic & Culture Office of the country in which the student resides of their original school when they return their acceptance letter. After this, an applicant is ready for enrollment. l One official transcript of the academic records in English or Chinese certified by the school graduated from. l Two letters of recommendation. l One health certificate issued within the last six months (Attached HIV certification). l One copy of passport. l English proficiency certificate (Computer-based TOEFL 133 or above, Paper-based TOEFL 450 or above, Internet-based TOEFL 45 or above, or diploma obtained in an English speaking country required for applicants of the Master¡¦s program from non-English speaking countries). l Applicants are required to provide Chinese proficiency certificate to show adequate listening, reading, speaking, and writing proficiency in Chinese at a level necessary for university academic pursuit. However, those applying for programs which are taught in English are exceptional. Applicants who apply for admission to those departments/institutes which offer courses in Chinese are required to hand in Chinese language proficiency certificate. Please follow the rules of the departments. l One financial statement issued by bank and authenticated by Taiwan ROC embassy, consulate office, or Taipei Economic & Culture Office of the country in which the student resides. (Applicants must provide a financial statement showing the amount of at least US$7,500 deposit.) l The receipt of application fee US$20, including postage fee. (Should the application fee be remitted to the university account or pay it at Asia University, please enclose a copy of the receipt.) Q. When is the deadline of admission application? A. ¡P Spring 2010: November 30, 2009 postmark deadline ¡P Fall 2010: February 26 postmark deadline for Taiwan Scholarship application ¡P Fall 2010: May 31 postmark deadline for regular application Q. When will I get admission letter? A. ¡P Spring 2010: January, 2010 ¡P Fall 2010 for Taiwan Scholarship: March 12, 2010 ¡P Fall 2010 for regular application: June 30, 2010 Q. Does Asia University provide any form for health examination? A. No. Q. Does Asia University provide any scholarships for the international students? How to apply for the scholarship? A. Yes, all applicants have opportunity to compete for scholarship, depending on the qualification of the applicant, program admitted, and funding available. International students who have received other scholarships are not eligible to apply. Three categories of scholarships are as follows:
¡@ Besides, we strongly recommend international students to apply for Taiwan Scholarship provided by Taiwan government. The application deadline for international students intending to apply for Taiwan Scholarship is February 26, 2010. Detail information can be found at http://english.moe.gov.tw. Q. How much is the tuition fee for full-time students? A. The tuition and other fees range approximately from US$1,480 to US$1,800 per semester, depending on the program of study. Q. How much is the living cost covering meals, dormitory fee, and other expenses? A. In general, the living cost for each individual is roughly US$2,700 per year. Q. How to apply for admission to Asia University? A. Please prepare all required materials and send the package by postal mail to the Center for International Academic Exchange. Q. Does Asia University offer on-campus jobs for international students to apply? If so, how much is the monthly stipend? A. International students may compete for a limited number of on-campus jobs, depending on their qualification. In general, teaching/research assistantship is approximately US$120 per month, and is subject to current exchange rates. According to the policy of the University, each student is not allowed to receive multiple scholarships, no matter where the scholarships come from. Outstanding students ranked top three in previous semester will receive an award, and the prize may vary each year. ¡@ ¡@ |
